Saymo in “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in L.A.”
Who is Saymo?
Saymo is a food delivery robot created by autonomous sidewalk delivery company Serve Robotics (NASDAQ:SERV) and featured prominently in the Netflix special “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s In L.A.” A recurring character on the six episodes of the show, Saymo is often featured delivering snacks and ginger ale to show guests — including Sarah Silverman, David Letterman, Bill Hader, Cedric the Entertainer, and Pete Davidson. The robot became a unique and quirky highlight of the show, adding a touch of humor and novelty to the program.
Why is Saymo a star?
On the show, John Mulaney’s sidekick Richard Kind repeatedly insults Saymo and questions why Mulaney is so enamored with the robot. In response, Mulaney quips in defense of Saymo that “Everybody loves Saymo,” “Saymo is a big celebrity now,” and “Saymo is a star.”
Does Saymo have friends?
Saymo is one of many robots in the Serve Robotics delivery fleet, which have completed tens of thousands of food deliveries for Uber Eats in L.A.
Serve robots are designed to be as diverse as the communities they traverse and sport a range of designs, including the company’s own designs, as well as custom designs placed by advertisers and artists. Limited edition Serve robots include Marsha, a robot designed by artist Sküt and named after LGBTQIA+ pioneer Marsha P Johnson to celebrate Pride 2023, as well as robot designs sponsored by advertisers such as Charles Schwab, Smokey the Bear and The Garfield Movie.
Where can I see more of Saymo?
Despite John Mulaney’s declaration that “Saymo is a star,” Saymo still has bills to pay. You can find the famed robot back on the sidewalk completing food deliveries for Uber Eats in L.A.
